Re-Trial of Nnubia, kidnap baron, rages

(Dr. C Okeke wrote): I'm glad you said that money has not bought justice. (Picture left shows the suspected kidnappers undergoing prosecution. Nnubia, the alleged kidnap baron, is in the middle)

On the other hand, have you considered that innocent men are being held without cause. It seems that you are the judge and jury, you have already concluded that Dr. Nnubia and his staff are guilty.

What kind of news medium are you? Are you not supposed to conduct your own investigation in order to find out the truth? I wonder who is paying you to write this rubbish. Any news article with reference to this case shows that you have already tried and found Dr. Nnubia guilty.

Is it a sin to work hard and become wealthy at an early age, or should Dr. Nnubia pay for employing Mohammed? Surely, the truth will come out in the end. Nothing, I repeat, nothing is hidden under the sun forever. I hope you will write a retraction when Dr. Nnubia and his staff are cleared of this case.

Dr. C. Okeke

Editor's Note

We are, indeed, at a loss at the outrage of Dr. Okeke against our publications on Chief Nnubia so far. Okeke has, as it were, sent us series of reactions concerning our stories on Nnubia. But the story/ies which Dr. Okeke has been complaining about with venom have, incidentally, never been our stories, but the court's.

KlinReports has been reporting the Nnubia stories from the court proceedings. Nobody is sponsoring us to write for or against Nnubia. As a policy, we do not give room for that.

So, may we in KlinReports assure our good friend, Dr. C. Okeke, that we remain steadfast and committed to the ethics of journalism profession, and would take another look at our style of reporting the Nnubia saga so far.

Thanks for being there!

This is the first time you are using the word "alleged suspect." All your previous article refered to Dr. Nnubia as a Kidnap Baron. You never refered to him as an alleged suspect. (See your opening statements below): Quote from Klin Report:

"Nnubia’s kidnap syndicate was, December last year, smashed by the police command which, as a result of suspected compromise, had been foot-dragging in bringing him (and his kidnap gang) to justice". "Nnubia’s kidnap gang held Edemobi hostage for four days, without food". ( From KlinReport dated 01/05/2009)

Like I said earlier as a news media, you need not be baised. You report stories on a neutral ground until you have all your facts. I hope you write a retraction when the courts see that innocent men have be held for over 3 months. Just because Dr. Nnubia unknowingly employed a criminal I don't see why he should suffer. You say that your report comes from the court. I assure you that never have the courts addressed these men as kidnap barons. The court will and must always address them as suspects. Unless the courts in Nigeria are different, these men are INNOCENT, I repeat INNOCENT until proven guilty in the court of law. Do your job and be careful on your choice of words so as not to be sued for slander.

once you are convinced on your reportage, do not ever let any disagreeable third party teleguide you. there is never a time anyone can satisfy the entire humanity and even the devil has some sympathisers who will complain whenever their pay-master is implicated. just be fair and balanced and let the editorial fall where they may. do not allow anyone to lead you by the nose; and by agreeing to review your editorials, there is necessary implication that it was suspect in the first place. anyway, goodluck.

Ebekuo, no one is saying that they should not report the truth. All I'm saying is that they should report the facts, and not hearsay. Also they should be given the chance to plead their case in court and not be judged by people like you and Klin Report. According to your comment "even the devil has some sympathisers", to me you have already concluded that they are guilty. Once again, I hope you and KlinReport will retract your article/comments when you hear all the facts and they are set free. May God safe the helpless in Nigeria.

It is a shame that you are not following the new development of the kidnapping you have being writing about. I guess since the new twist to the kidnapping is in favor of Dr. Nnubia and his staff, the new is not worth publishing. As you may have heard, the police have apprehended the right culprits to the kidnapping. And the alleged man Chinedu have confessed his active involvement with reference to the kidnapping. On the other hand he said that he does not know Dr Nnubia or any of his staff members. If you were not paid by someone to write all the rubbish you have being writing; why is it that other News media are publishing the new arrest and you are not? Like I said before, as a news media you should be unbiased. Always conduct a proper research before publishing things that came damage the image of a man that have worked so hard all his life to earn an honest living. Conduct a research for yourself as to who this man Dr. Nnubia is. Good Luck and God bless. Peace out!

How can a Minister of information of a country, with all her knowledge, she didn’t see that it was inappropriate for her to negotiate with criminals. Where were her security services? Why didn’t she use them during the negotiation? I question her involvement with the criminals and also her involvement with the case till date. New information about the whole kidnapping has come to light, with new suspects arrested. And the suspects have confessed and cleared Chief Nnubia and his staff.

Why would Nigeria Police, midway, transfer out DSP Abanajelo, the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), out of Enugu state. What do the police want to cover up in Nnubia kidnap saga? Like every other thing in life, time will tell.
