Obi will be divinely re-elected in 2011

It is only God, and God alone, who will make the re-election of Governor Peter Obi of Anambra state possible. No matter the evil machinations of man, God willing, Obi will bounce back as second term governor of the ‘Light of the Nation State’ of Anambra.

The foregoing are the submissions of Valentine Obienyem, Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Obi on Media. (Picture left shows Governor Obi)

Maintaining that his boss would depend on the Grace of Almighty God, in addition to his (Obi)’s innumerable projects, to win the governorship election, Obienyem states that many could resort to rigging, but not so with Governor Obi. Rigging or any act of electoral malpractice, Obienyem says, is antithetic to Obi’s belief.

Obienyem recalls that it was by God’s Grace that Governor Obi was able to regain his stolen mandate, and to even come back from impeachment in spite of overwhelming odds.

Asked what was spectacular about the Governor coming back from impeachment, Obienyem retorts: “You need to be part of the intrigue or to have witnessed how the intrigue played out for you to appreciate the forces against the Governor. Remember that while he was illegally impeached, by those who were even part of his Government, these people pretended they were working for him when actually they were against him. Remember that the then Commissioner for Justice in the state, Peter Afuba, was dismissed by Dame Virgy Etiaba for filing something in the court in support of Obi’s case.

‘We witnessed situations where those in Government organized anti-Obi’s protest even in the premises of the courts while Obi’s case was on. Of course, the judgment of the Awka High Court returning the Governor was not obeyed. If not for the intervention of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu (God will bless him), Obi would not have come back after the Judgment of the Court of Appeal.”

Obienyem commented on what Ojukwu did, saying that when the Governor was coming to the Government House, Awka to take over from Dame Virginia Etiaba, after the judgment, he was not allowed to enter on the reason that Etiaba was going for inspection. Obi was allowed to return back to office until Dim Ojukwu and Chief Victor Umeh, National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) intervened.

Obienyem notes that when the Etiabas continued to waste time in handing over to Obi on the guise that handover note was being written, remarking that it was Ojukwu, exploring his experience, that insisted that handover notes were not needed as time was of essence.

To show you that there was no plan to handover, about five minutes after the handover, the then Commissioner for Police in the State, John Haruna came to the Government House with top police officers to stop the handover on the instruction of Abuja. Alas, it was too late as the hand-over had taken place, Obienyem concludes.
